Training With LDRC

Part of what we love to do in LDRC is provide affordable tuition for our members with a variety of Instructors and Venues. We believe that everyone should have access to good instructors and the opportunity to use some of the wonderful facilities in the area. All training is provided at cost, the club does not make a profit from any training we run. 


To book onto any other training please email unless otherwise specified. 

Please tell us what height you wish to jump for any showjumping or cross country clinics so we can match the groups as evenly as possible and let us know about any time restrictions you may have and we will do our best to accommodate you. We can often accommodate flatwork with jumping lessons so please get in touch if you do not wish to jump.


Payment must be made in advance, you will not be issued times unless payment has been cleared.

Located about 20 minutes east of Ludlow, the Hillocks is home to a 30 x 60 outdoor arena, with monthly show jumping clinics with Mandy Kent and Hannah Jackson.

With the kind permission of Heather Blythe, LDRC can use her all weather arena and large grass field for jumping and dressage.

Stoke Court – Ludlow, SY8 3BX

Stoke Court has an indoor and large outdoor arena with a new Andrew Bowen surface, a full set of jumps and dressage boards. There is plenty of parking on hard standing.

We hold clinics with various instructors at this venue.

  • A 25 minute drive from Ludlow, Bow House is another lovely potential venue with opportunities to do flatwork, show jumping and go cross country schooling, along with facilities for camps.

  • Located a 40 minute drive from Ludlow, Kings is another potential winter venue with a full set of show jumps.

Our Instructors

Mandy Kent 

Mandy is an accomplished horsewoman having competed at major show jumping events including The Hickstead Derby.  She is currently competing young horses. Her experience makes her a great instructor, she combines grid work with jumping a course, giving confidence and understanding to the horse and rider.

Jonquil Hemming 

BHS stage 5 performance coach in complete horsemanship and UKCC level 3 BE.  I have many years experience coaching all levels of riders. I specialise in eventing and have coached the FEI Pony team for 15 years. I am prepared to travel, do day clinics or private work in all three phases.

Gary Morgan 

Freelance Coach, UKCC qualified (Level 2) and Pony Club Accredited, BSPS Star WHP and Dressage Panel Judge. Caters for individual and group lessons, Riding Club and Pony Club, flatwork, jumping, gridwork and cross country clinics. Experienced with young and difficult horses. All ages and abilities of riders available.

Jon Rogers 

Jon is a freelance BHS, UKCC Level 3 and recommended Pony Club accredited coach. He is fully insured and on the BHS Register.  Jon teaches from grassroots to more experienced combinations in all disciplines. 

Hannah Jackson 

I am a BHS Intermediate instructor and UKCC Level 3 BS Coach. I am available for private sessions and groups, Pony Clubs and Riding Clubs. Whether it’s confidence building or improving your technique over bigger fences, all levels and abilities are catered for.

Margaret Linington-Payne 

BHS stage 5 performance coach in complete horsemanship. Margaret teaches all levels of horse and rider and enjoys seeing her pupils progress.

Jane Palmer 

Hi!  I’m an Accredited professional senior coach (BHSII) and BD listed judge.

I am passionate about giving horses and people the chance to fulfil their potential, and love finding solutions to problems improving confidence. I believe age and ability shouldn’t limit our dreams.  

Marie Ryan

Marie is passionate about supporting and encouraging each individual rider and their horse to achieve their best irrespective of discipline, level or age – and doing it with a smile.

Kath Miller

Kathryn Miller is a Biomechanics trainer for horse and rider. With the ultimate goal of improving core muscle strength, Kath uses an innovative teaching method which results in great improvements through balance, seat and core.

Nancy Rollings

I am a fully qualified BDCC Level 2 coach based in Shropshire. I have ridden all of my life and now my main focus is dressage.

I am currently riding a variety of different horses at different levels. I am currently competing my top horse Wishful at PSG level and we have recently returned from the BD Nationals. My competition experience and love of dressage means I can help riders at all levels to improve their position, their horses way of going and their test riding too!

Theresa Szostek

I am a 35 year old dressage rider and coach. Based in Shropshire for 7 years after moving here from Gloucestershire.  I have trained many horses from young horse classes through to PSG, competed at numerous Regional and National Championships. I aim to make training dressage fun, interesting and simple! I get as much joy from teaching a lead rein lesson as I do a more advanced lesson. It’s about rider progression and enjoying your horse!

Christopher Lloyd

Charlie is BHSAI, UK level 2, an experienced trainer former chief instructor with the army and teaches everyone from beginners to PSG so this is a great opportunity to have regular lessons with a very experienced trainer.
